Putting One Foot in Front of the Other
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had wisdom imparted to me by children (or children’s shows). Watching Santa Claus is Coming to Town this year made me realize that sometimes the simplest message is deflect by an adult’s jaded responses. The Winter Warlock learned pretty easily how liberating it is to be reborn by taking baby steps: a lesson we should absorb at any age.
Case in point: the other day I was driving with my 11-year-old daughter when we heard a radio ad that caused me to mutter something about not accomplishing everything I set out to do this past year. My sweet girl was quick to correct me, reminding me of several good and exciting changes I had made, things I had created that didn’t exist 12 months ago. Even when I acknowledged that she was right, but that these endeavors were not all they could be yet, she continued, “Well, at least you started them. Imagine if you had waited ‘til next year to start them, then you’d really be behind…you have to start somewhere!”
Those were her exact words, and my gift to you –a perfect sentiment to end an amazing year!
