About Us
Small business: it’s our passion. We start businesses of our own, cheer start-ups from a distance, chat up entrepreneurs every chance we get, and root for people with big dreams.
Each one of us starts with an idea, maybe a way to do something better, more efficiently, with more style (or speed, or fun) than the old way of doing it. Maybe you know of a new product, a unique way to move people and ideas forward; maybe you’re just really good at what you do and you want to make money at it on your own terms.
While big business commands respect, it’s the small guys, the mom and pops of the nation, that run away with our hearts and imagination. Why? Because we know that small business and the people who start them built this country, and because we know and do business with so many folks who have the same concerns as we do.
In fact the people we’re rooting for face common issues across the board. Taxes, hiring, partnering, creating a brand and a web presence, keeping the books, tracking customers, marketing products and services, keeping up with technology and current business strategy… all these things take up a good share of our waking lives.
And if you’re a small business owner (or just thinking of becoming one) you know how consuming this passion is. Aside from your small area of expertise, be it running a retail shop, cornering your share of a direct marketing business, selling insurance, opening an art gallery, creating cocktails, writing software, or teaching others your craft; you have something in common with millions of other Americans – your business “baby.”
We at Charting Dreams believe that with the right combination of guts, inspiration, commitment to personal goals, self-knowledge, and a clear understanding of your skills, your market and your product; you can succeed.
Everyone knows that a fair wind at your back is undeniably helpful, but there are steps you can take to position your business favorably even when you’re rolling with the economic storm or battling discouraging local and national policies. We reveal what others are doing and share tips about what’s working and what’s not.
Charting Dreams is founded first with the belief in big dreams, and then with a dedication to provide hardworking tools and the assistance you need to lift those dreams off the ground. Whether you’re thinking of starting out on your own, taking a hobby or consulting gig to that next level, or just need some proven advice and inspiration to point your sails in the right direction, we’re here to help.
